REDILA

READERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND INFORMATION LITERACY ADOVOCACY

The REDILA project is a fund centered and strategic approach to creating a reading culture and life long onformation literacy. It is a reader development and ICT literacy programme aimed at promoting the culture of reading among children and youths. The programme builds partnerships between parents, educators, librarians, administrators and the rural community. Efforts at promoting good reading habits are effected through the involvement of all segments of the society at every level from family, community, school and local government, thus forming an elastic REDILA network

Vision

A sustained cost effective and approriate Library & Information Service to accommodate the needs of the seekers and maintain a reading culture in the society.

Mission

To promote and provide reading resources with appropriate training, facilities and infrastructure for an information driven society.

Goals

  • 2. To present a platform for advocacy and sensitization in order to solicit for more funding to promote libr

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION LITERACY SKILLS ACQUISITION (LILISA).

Objectives:

To develop in students the ability to define nees, search, evaluate, utilize books and other information media.

  2. Inculcation of Information Handling Skills
  3. Surfing and evaluating the Web.
  4. Institution of Readers Hall of Fame in Schools.

READERSHIP PROMOTION ON CAMPUS(RPC)

Objectives:

To develop positive information skills, attitudes and values in students.

  1. Debates on topical issues
  2. Family search online.
  3. Surfing and evaluating the Web.
  4. Institution of Readers Hall of Fame in Schools.
  5. Book Tree Activities/Clubs.

BOOKS ON WHEELS(BOW)

Objectives:

To provide books and other electronic study resources to adults and youths who have no advantage of formal education to improve basic knowledge and skills at their doorstep.

Strategies/Activies

  1. Public rallies and town hall meeting with Books on Wheels to present books as instruments of democracy.
  2. Democratization of access to information through book exhibitions and poster presentations on wheels.
  3. To raise awareness about the variety of programmes and services offered by the schools and public libraries.
